Spiritual Experience

I was recently asked about an experience I referenced on my main Neo-Shamanism Blog. I spoke briefly of how I met my spiritual guide, and how I got to see deep into my history.

A friend from Yahoo Answers Religion and Spirituality forum, which I frequent under the username Alhaiksandher, asked "if you would provide details of what your contact with the spirit guide which you encountered through meditation was like?" I am more than happy to address this question, as I believe it will be beneficial for others who are interested in my journey. As this is the next blog topic on my main blog, feel free to reference it from there as well.

My journey began like this :

I sat quietly, in a comfortable position with my eyes closed. I focused first on my breathing to synchronize myself with my body. Then I focused on the energy around me, feeling it flow and pulse. I relaxed every muscle in my body, letting my hands rest on my knees with the palms facing each other, hands completely relaxed to a point where they looked as though they were gripping a staff. A very loose fist, of sorts.

From this point I deepened and lengthened my breaths, focusing on a point in the center of my forehead to help me concentrate. The exact location of this point can change for everyone. It is the point you focus to at which you feel the most in tune with your spirituality.

It was at this point that I called out in my mind, "Come to me spirits. Show me your ways. Show yourself to me, and let me learn from your experiences."

As I continued to focus, I entered a dream-like state. It was at this state that I saw a great white eagle fly down to me and take me up upon it's back. We began flying, very high and very fast, through the clouds. We said nothing at first. After flying for what felt like 15 minutes I asked, "Where are we going?" At this point he first spoke to me, in a very deep, powerful voice. He told me "To see your ancestors."

Suddenly we dropped much lower. I could see emerald-green fields spread out below me. We were entering a valley, surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Nestled against one of the mountains, there was a large castle. This castle was comprised of a tall tower in the Eastern corner, and a courtyard in the center, raised high on top of a tall building. This courtyard had an anvil at the center, with a ring of knee-high stones set around it. There was a blacksmith at work on the anvil, and what appeared to be a mage casting various spells around the ring of stones. Flying by, my spirit-guide informed me that my spirituality was represented in the mage, and my personality in the blacksmith. This told me that I am a very spiritual individual, who finds strength in the spirit. It also tells me that I put myself to tasks, working diligently. I attack all situations from many different angles, refining what I'm working on until it meets my high standards.

This description fits me perfectly. I can perfectly see myself being described as a cross between a mage and a blacksmith. I later asked what he meant by "meeting my ancestors." He explained that ancestors are from who we come to being. He continued to explain to me that there are many different ways to interpret that particular word : many people first think of relatives from the past. He explains that although that is indeed who we came from, it does not explain who we are at all. Our biological ancestors have very little influence on who we are. Therefore, as he explains, the best interpretation of "who we come from" is who we are most similar to. Who are personalities are based on.

This interpretation has helped me identify myself as a human being.

Now anyone can follow the method I described to try and seek out their spiritual guide. As a little insight to you, your spiritual guide is you.

We are comprised of 3 different existences. The mental, the physical, and the spiritual. We originally exist as the spiritual. When we accept a physical body, the result is the mental. Similar to the concept where if you mix vinegar with baking soda you get foam. Or if you mix NaOH with HCl you get NaCl and H2O. (Sodium Hydroxide + Hydrochloric Acid = salt water). The two exist with the one, but the one is formed from the other two. Similarly, the physical realm is comprised by overlapping the Light spiritual realm with the Dark spiritual realm.

Our mental and physical are tied very closely together, while the spiritual and the mental are tied very closely together. The spiritual can only affect the physical if it is given access through the mental. This is the concept of walking through the spiritual realm. At first, we find our spirit. Then we ask our spirit (which is a separate entity, which I have found to wander behind me looking over [usually] my right shoulder at what I am doing) to guide us to the spiritual realm. If we learn to piggyback our physical being, then anything is possible.

Meeting your spiritual self as your spirit guide is the first step in the Neo-Shamanic journey. I welcome everyone to try to meet their spiritual self. It is not the simplest of tasks, and requires very powerful concentration to accomplish. Each person's journey is different, and it is wise to repeat this journey. Your spiritual self very well may change appearance to better suit itself to your personal needs. My close friend has identified his spiritual guide (sometimes referred to as a power animal) as a phoenix. Your spiritual guide can help you find problems in yourself, in others, see into others' personal struggles, and to heal. Your spiritual guide knows much more than you may realize, and speaks the most honest of truths.

That is about all I believe I can cover on this topic. Thanks for reading, and keep those questions coming! Remember, hit me up at malicia.capo@yahoo.com .

May your own, individual faiths guide you in your journeys :-)
